Natixis Investment Managers has been one of the main sponsors of this famous event since 2011, providing notably a scholarship program that enables young musicians to further their musical education.

A memorable 2018 edition

Once again the Newport Jazz Festival lived up to its reputation as one of the world’s top jazz events. More than 15,000 music fans attended the three days of shows from August 3-5 at picturesque Fort Adams State Park. A number of associates and clients attended the festival, using it as an opportunity to relax, enjoy the beautiful views offered by the venue, and enrich their knowledge and appreciation of jazz music. Fort Adams State Park, where the festival was held, is located right at the mouth of the Newport Harbor and presents visitors with beautiful views of both the Newport Bridge and the East Passage. The festival also boasted an impressive lineup that included artists such as the retiring George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, John Baptiste, Grace Kelly and GoGo Penguin.

Continuing to support this community, Natixis granted scholarships to two promising young musicians during the festival. Both of this year’s scholarship recipients will study music at colleges in New England this fall.

The scholarships are named in celebration of George Wein, the founder of the Newport Jazz Festival and one of the original jazz ambassadors, who has spent his life working to bring people together through the power of jazz.
