Natixis is convinced that for a company to grow it must draw on all its talent and so is pursuing its efforts to ensure professional equality between women and men, and to promote gender balance in the workplace. Today we are celebrating International Women’s Day. Let’s take a look at our milestones and actions on this theme during the past year.

In 2016, Natixis obtained AFNOR’s Professional Equality label. The label is awarded after completing a stringent research process on concrete initiatives taken by the company to ensure gender equality and to improve professional equality in the workplace.  The AFNOR certification testifies to the company’s unflagging resolve to address the issue.

Developing leadership by women in the workplace

Men occupy the majority of managerial positions in the financial sector, but this can be avoided by Natixis.

Natixis has introduced training programs to increase the chances of women being promoted to positions of responsibility. The “Female Career Advancement” and “Women Advance” programs give participants the grounding to create a motivating career path, realize their ambitions and develop their leadership skills.

Identifying one’s needs, boosting one’s self-confidence, daring to ask for things, speaking in public and giving oneself permission to succeed are all vital to career development.

“Enhancing women’s work skills, being more assertive, getting out there more and being noticed are some of the themes that are covered. These programs are a core part of our drive to improve workplace gender balance and will help female employees to clearly set their career goals and remove any possible hurdles in their way,” explained Cécile Tricon Bossard, Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer.

Supporting Natixis’ women managers’ network

Natixis’ senior management supports Winn – short for Women in Natixis Network – the women managers’ network that was created in 2012. Laurent Mignon, Natixis’ CEO and Laurence Debroux, one of Natixis’ administrators and CFO at Heineken, have been Winn sponsors since its inception.

Winn’s objectives are to promote gender balance in Natixis’ management team and to create a network of women who can focus on a variety of issues such as career and personal development for professional women. A host of activities are offered to members such as mentoring, information-sharing with other networks, feedback, meetings with other professional women trailblazers and members of management, in addition to conferences. Winn representatives also meet regularly with key Natixis managers to promote the cause of gender balance in the workplace.

Winn boasted over 800 members in 2016, 300 of whom are outside of France and who belong to the Winn Hong Kong, Winn London and Winn Americas networks. Winn Americas was launched in 2016.

Deconstructing stereotypes to make gender balance a performance driver

Stereotypes have a way of sticking and that’s why it’s so important to take action.

Natixis respects the principles of non-discrimination towards women in its various HR processes, notably those involving recruitment.

Awareness campaigns are conducted for managers each year on the topic of workplace gender balance in a bid to break down stereotypes and fight against gender bias. In 2016, Patrick Scharnitzky, who holds a Ph.D in Social Psychology, chaired a conference for Natixis managers on unconscious biases and stereotypes.

March 8 is International Women’s Day and we have a program to shake things up!

Natixis has organized a number of events to explore today’s theme, no matter whether it’s about being inspired to get more gender balance in teams, fighting stereotypes or boosting leadership skills:

  • The one woman show by Blandine Métayer, “Je suis Top” or confessions of a woman
  • who cracked the glass ceiling
  • A conference on “Performance and Gender Diversity” chaired by Anne Lebel, Chief HR Officer and Jean-Michel Monnot, the former “Mr. Inclusion” at Sodexo
  • A conference on “Career blockers and boosters” with Annaig Benoit, coach and talent architect at Talentis
