The French handball team, supported by Caisse d’Epargne, won yesterday its 6th world champion title. By beating Norway 33-26 in the final, the French team marked a little more the history of their sport.

Dominated in the first half by aggressive Norwegians, the French, led by the decisive players Nikola Karabatic and Michael Guigou, then reversed the trend and were no longer in danger of defeat … For the greatest delight of the 15,000 jubilant spectators.

With this win, coach Didier Dinart also brilliantly proved a worthy successor of Claude Onesta by picking up a title at home for his very first international
competition at the head of the French team.

The French team now totals eleven titles on the international stage (six World and three European Championships, two Olympic gold medals), all of them won in only twenty-two years.
