The 4th edition of the Business Analytics for Future Banking Chair took place from the 5th to 18th January 2022. Over a two-week period, ten teams of students from the prestigious schools Polytechnique and HEC worked on two business cases from Corporate & Investment Banking and also BPCE Assurances.

4th Edition of the X-HEC Data Challenge

The X-HEC Chair aims to contribute to the development and progression of data usage, an essential tool for rethinking banking. Indeed, data, particularly when employed by data science algorithms, contributes to the development of new, increased value services and to the improvement of banks’ operational efficiency. For students, this chair is an opportunity to go up against real life cases using real data and to respond to business challenges in various sectors: retail banking, asset management, payments, risks, etc.

Use cases are at the heart of our business challenges

Better understanding our clients, optimizing our risk management, automating reporting, creating data visualization, or even using data to calculate client appetence scores are all opportunities for mutual exchange between our experts and the students. These are all challenges to face which concern new market trends and technologies.

The January 2022 edition of the data challenge is centered around two key themes to support our customers in two very different domains:

  • The detection and correction of anomalies in the volatility surfaces of the equity markets within our Corporate & Investment Bank
  • Predicting the renewal or first purchase of cars by individual customers for BPCE Assurances.

With the Business Analytics for Future Banking Chair, we benefit from the students’ insights into our business challenges related to data and provide them with an enriching experience focused on the future of business.
